Last
year a wide spectrum of former residents and faculty
attended the meeting. Some were from as close as Iowa
City (Bob Brown, Bill Erkonen and Charles Lu), and
some were from as far away as California (Calvin Yang).
The
day began with a seminar for graduates and faculty
of the 1980's. This allowed a lively interchange of
comments on today's practice of radiology and vaious
methodologies to cope with concerns.
In
the afternoon, the senior residents gave their research
presentations to an appreciative audience of alumni,
faculty and peers. After a considerable, tough deliberation,
the Evaluation Committee chose Matt Berst's paper,
"Effect of Prior Knowledge of Chronological Age
on Variability in Bone Age Determination Using the
Method of Greuhlich and Pyle," as the winner
of the Outstanding Research Presentation Award.
Hiroshi
Honda, MD, a 1986-89 alumnus of UI Radiology, now
Chair at Kyushu University in Japan, was Visiting
Professor for the program. He presented a great lecture
to the group on new developments in abdominal imaging
at Kyushu University.
The
evening event included a reception and banquet for
attendees--residents, faculty, spouses and friends.
Providence was good to us, so that we had a beautiful
spring day and evening for our program.
