The
Nuclear Medicine Section offers the full range
of diagnostic procedures including all cardiac
imaging procedures and such diverse studies
as lymphoscintigraphy, white cell and platelet
scintigraphy, and ProstaScint imaging. The Positron
Emission Tomography (PET) Center is equipped
with cyclotron and extensive chemistry laboratories,
and routinely provides F-18 FDG and O-15 water
imaging studies for patients requiring tumor
staging, cardiac viability studies, and evaluation
of brain blood flow or metabolism. Several members
of the staff are active in the evaluation of
new radiolabeled monoclonal antibodies for diagnosis
and therapy of various benign and malignant
disorders. Fusion of three-dimensional nuclear
medicine images (SPECT or PET) with computed
tomography or magnetic resonance images is available
for evaluation of complex problems.
