New Multislice
CT Scanner

The advent of high-speed, multislice CT scanners changes the way we think about medical imaging, diagnosis and the treatment of patients.  Faster scans open new avenues for developing and expanding clinical applications in areas such as trauma, pediatric, vascular and cardiac imaging.

Multislice CT represents the next generation of CT scanners and has the potential to change this imaging modality from a primarily diagnostic tool to an interventional system. Multislice CT capabilities open new avenues for developing

and expanding clinical applications to include interventional procedures, image-guided therapy, diagnostic CT Angiography, as well as combination studies. In addition, with a system offering 300 millisecond partial scan, institutions are expected to be able to handle new cardiac applications such as coronary artery calcification scoring.

As real-time imaging becomes a reality, newer and much bolder clinical applications will be developed. The technical achievements that have made this technology possible are a testament to the ingenuity of the designers and engineers of these systems. There is no doubt that the introduction of these systems will save time and reduces costs, and provide a significant contribution to improvements in the quality and efficiency of health care.
